TAXILA: Two gangs involved in incidents of robbery, theft, mobile and motorcycle snatching were busted and stolen items including cash, motorcycles besides weapons were recovered from their possession.

Talking to journalists on Monday, Senior Superintendent of Police Syed Ali said that acting on a tip off, a police party led by Wah Saddar Police station’s Station House Officer Mohammad Rafeeq traced four members of a gang identified as “Basheera gang” and held them during a raid. He said the suspects confessed their involvement in burglary, house robbery, mobile and cash snatching. Two walkie talkie sets were recovered from members of the gang and it seems that they carried out their criminal activities disguised as officials of law enforcement agencies, he said, adding the gang members have confessed their involvement in various domestic and commercial robberies in the twin cities of Taxila and Wah.

Mr Ali said that the same team also busted a two-member gang of motorcycle thieves and recovered six stolen motorcycles from their possession. Six motorcycles, snatched cash worth Rs100,000 and weapons utilised in crime were also recovered from their possession. He said members of the gang confessed their involvement in theft and motorcycle snatching at gunpoint in Taxila and Wah.
