KARACHI: Renowned basketball player, referee and brilliant operator of electronic scoreboard Javed Memon expired here on Friday due to coronavirus.

Javed served the game for several years and was a respected person in sports circles.

His funeral prayers were held at Usman Mosque near Kakri Ground which were attended by many sports personalities including KBBA president Ghulam Mohammad, PBF’s Yaqoob Qadri, Ashraf Yahya, Fawad Ali Khan, players Ghulam Rasool, Engr Zainul Abideen, Rajkumar Lakhwani, Amir Shareef and many others.

International referee Mohammad Asif has also condoled Javed’s untimely death.

Later, speaking to reporters, the KBBA president said all efforts would be made to remember Javed Memon’s services for basketball and to support his family.
