NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Armed men took away Rs3 million from the office of the Ehsaas Programme in the main Mirali Bazaar here on Saturday.
The police said around eight people barged into the office of the Ehsas Programme, held staff members at gunpoint and seized Rs3 million cash before fleeing.
Head of the office Hafeezullah told reporters that eight armed men entered the office and made the staff members hostage.
“We’d drawn a total of Rs4.3 million cash from a local bank. Of it, Rs1.3 million was distributed to the Ehsaas Programme’s beneficiaries, while the rest was taken away by the robbers,” he said.
The daylight robbery took place when Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which restricts the people’s movement and display of weapons, was imposed across North Waziristan tribal district.
