The dead fish belonged to two species, ie Sardinella (Lugger) and Pufar, and sized from 3 to 6 inch and believed to be part of discarded catch dumped in the sea by fishing boats, said a fishery official.

A committee constituted by the director fisheries, Sindh, inspected the areas where the fish washed ashore on Thursday evening.

Talking to Dawn, an official of the fisheries department, Syed Hasan Ali Rizvi, said that the drifting of fish could be held an accidental development by chance, which had nothing to do with sea pollution or any oily organism. He said that the fish which were received at the seaside due to tidal phenomena had no oil content.
