ABBOTTABAD: The police department has deployed 6,000 personnel in all the eight districts of the Hazara division to check violation of precautions against Covid-19 and to stop the movement of tourists in Galiyat, Naran and Kaghan during the Eid days.

An official said a high-level meeting chaired by DIG Hazara Mir Vas reviewed the security arrangements for Eid days. The meeting also took up promotions of the police officials.

The official said the meeting decided to establish 100 checkposts to keep a watch on criminals.

He said policemen in in plain clothes would be deployed at bus stands, in the city areas and in the surroundings of the hotels and rest houses.

The DIG directed the district police officers to strictly implement the SOPs to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

He also asked the traffic wardens to devise a comprehensive plan for the smooth running of traffic on roads.

Mir Vas asked the DPOs to establish control rooms for smooth execution and monitoring of the security plans in their respective districts.

The DIG advised the policemen to behave with the tourists while asking them to adhere to the coronavirus precautions. He warned that action would be taken against those being harsh with the visitors.

He also directed to keep a check on one-wheeling and firing in the air on the “Chand Raat”.
