Afghan border fence to be completed at all costs: Langove

QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove on Wednesday reviewed progress on the construction of a fence along the border with Afghanistan, establishment of special economic zone in the border area and the Chaman master plan.

A meeting presided over by the minister decided to provide tube wells run on solar energy to those people who have been divided by the fence. The meeting reviewed the resettlement of border villages.

Mr Langove informed the meeting that the border fencing would significantly increase legal border crossing and trade activities between the two countries and area people would get more job opportunities.

Officials told to resolve problems of people affected by fencing

He directed Deputy Commissioner of Qila Abdullah Tariq Javed Mengal to resolve land settlement issues amicably and said the provincial government would take serious steps to resolve the issues related to resettlement in the border areas.

Referring to a firing incident by terrorists in the Zhob border area, the home minister said the work of Pak-Afghan border fence would be completed at all costs.

He condemned the attack on Frontier Corps troops and expressed grief and sorrow over the human loss.

Additional Chief Secretary Home Arshad Majeed, Briga­dier Wajid of Southern Com­mand Office, Commi­ssioner Quetta Asfandyar Kakar, DIG Quetta Azhar Ikram and other security officials also attended the meeting.
