LAKKI MARWAT: The police claimed on Tuesday to have killed a proclaimed offender and his facilitator after an exchange of fire in Bezankhel area of Bannu.

Officials said DPO Imran Shahid had sent a police contingent to the area on information about presence of outlaws there.

They said the outlaws opened fire on the policemen when they were laying siege to their hideout. The criminals also hurled hand grenades on the cops.

The police returned the fire, and an exchange of fire followed for half an hour. Later, the police recovered two bodies from the hideout during a search after the firing stopped.

The officials identified the PO as Afsar and his facilitator Jamshed.

The police had been on the lookout of Afsar in cases of attempted murder, drug trafficking, attacks on law enforcers and terrorism.

The cops also seized two rifles, two hand grenades, 3,000 gram hashish and bullets from the place.

The police registered a case under relevant sections of law.
