KARACHI: A young milk trader was shot dead by suspected robbers over resistance in the Landhi area on Monday evening.

SHO Ghayur of the Sukhan police station said Mohammed Waseem, 28, left his home in Mehmoodabad along with his brother in a car when it was intercepted by armed men near his cattle pen located in Bhains Colony-9.

The assailants riding a motorcycle were ostensibly chasing the car and stopped it on the main road, the SHO said, adding that they snatched money from him and upon resistance they shot him and fled, the police officer said.

Wasim suffered critical bullet wounds and was transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The police officer said that the exact amount looted from him could not be ascertained. Hospital sources, however, quoted someone as putting the amount at Rs3-4 million.
