HARIPUR: A woman was killed and two persons including a girl were injured when two groups clashed in Chapriyan Amgah village, police said here on Monday.

Kotnajibullah police said that there was a dispute between the families of Mirza Khan and Safdar Khan, reportedly two cousins, over a piece of land. On Monday, the two parties came across and Faizan Khan opened fire on his rivals, injuring Safdar Khan, Husna Bibi, the daughter of Abbas Ali, and her mother Saeeda Bibi.

The injured were shifted to Trauma Centre where doctors pronounced Saeeda Bibi dead while the two others were admitted for treatment. The accused managed to escape, police said.

Meanwhile, a young man died after drowning in the Harro River near Khanpur, police said here on Monday.

Khanpur police and rescue sources said that a young boy in his twenties was bathing in the river near Tarnawa Bridge when he slipped into deep water and drowned.

The rescue workers and area people fished his body out and shifted to Khanpur tehsil headquarters hospital.

However, according to police the identity of the deceased could not be established.
