Ponam to hold protests

Published October 21, 2005

QUETTA, Oct 20: Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (Ponam) will hold demonstrations in Karachi, Quetta and all districts of Balochistan on Oct 22 in protest against the attack on the residence of Baloch politician Sardar Ataullah Mengal.

The announcement was made by the provincial committee of Ponam at a news conference on Thursday. They alleged that the attack was carried out by “invisible forces backed by state institutions” which were trying to implicate Sardar Mengal in tribal conflicts. However, Ponam leaders made it clear that such “cowardly acts would not force the nationalist leadership to give up their struggle against usurpers”.
