KARACHI, Oct 20: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justices M. Mujibullah Siddiqui and Khliji Arif Hussain, dismissed an Emirates Airlines appeal against the judgment and decree awarded in favour of Prof Syed Haroon Ahmed by a single judge.

Justice Mushir Alam had ordered the airline to pay the plaintiff professor $37,000 and Rs240,000 for its failure to fly him and his son against confirmed tickets. The airline filed a time-barred appeal and its counsel failed to explain the delay. Advocate Akhtar Hussain appeared for the respondent.

PETITION ALLOWED: The bench comprising Justices Ghulam Rabbani and Azizullah M. Memon allowed Sikandar Karim, an accused in the National Accountability Bureau reference in the Alliance Motors scam, to proceed to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj. The petitioner had submitted that he was not involved in the scam.
