FAISALABAD, Jan 22: The Pakistan People’s Party has demanded the government to announce the election schedule.
This was stated by Punjab PPP general secretary Aftab Ahmad Khan while talking to newsmen here on Tuesday. He said election reforms announced by the National Reconstruction Bureau were a ‘confused’ step on the part of the present rulers.
He claimed that the PPP was the only party which could steer the country out from all sorts of internal and external crisis. In case free, fair and transparent elections were held, the PPP would come into power with a thumping majority, he said.
The PPP leader claimed that a comprehensive election policy would be announced soon by the party leadership in the light of proposals and recommendations of party workers and office-bearers.
He demanded the chief election commissioner to hold the next general elections on the basis of computerized electoral rolls prepared in 1995 because new lists prepared by Nadra were full of errors.
He said there was no chance of an alliance with the PML-N because the party leadership had already announced to contest the polls under its own umbrella.
He demanded President Musharraf to invite Benazir Bhutto to Pakistan for taking part in the national politics. Any move to oust her from the political arena would be resisted by the PPP, he said.
CORRUPT EMPLOYEES: The corrupt and inefficient employees of the Tehsil Municipal Administration will not be spared at any cost and a secret campaign will be launched to check their working.
This was stated by city Nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema while talking to newsmen here on Tuesday.
He said special attention was being paid for the beautification of city roads, greenbelts, parks and open spaces especially with the community participation.
The Nazim said he would pay surprise visits to all branches of the TMA for checking the performance of employees and a legal action would be taken against lethargic functionaries.
