LAHORE: Accompanied by the civil administrative officials, army troops visited various parts of the city, especially the busy shopping markets and malls to ensure wearing of masks, social distancing and other Covid-19 SOPs and precautionary measures by the public at large.

The joint teams of army, police and civil administration while visiting various markets appealed to the people to keep wearing masks to avert spread of the coronavirus. They also warned and got some people detained for not following the Covid protocol.

“A team entered Ichhra Bazaar and warned many people of action in case of not following the SOPs. Many people, while seeing the team immediately started wearing masks,” a man among many standing at the entrance to the bazaar told Dawn.

In Cantonment area, a team while monitoring bazaars and markets at Bedian Road and Bhatta Chowk got arrested 23 people, sealed 37 shops and issued warning to 12 others besides distributing masks among the people. The teams in Shalimar, Model Town, Raiwind and City tehsils also launched crackdown, arrested many people and sealed several shops for SOPs violations.
