NAROWAL: Police have registered a case against four people and arrested two of them for allegedly torturing a labourer who failed to repay a meagre amount of loan.

Muhammad Usman, a resident of Qanungoi, Shakargarh Tehsil, told the police that he had borrowed Rs300 from Muhamamd Fayyaz. He said owing to joblessness he could not pay back the amount.

Two days back, he said he was standing in the Chowk of his village when Fayyaz forcibly took him to the house of one Pervez. “Owais Ali, Mohammad Arshad and others who were already in the house tortured me with iron rods,” he said.

Usman said the suspects hit him on his back, legs and arms with iron rods.

He said after hearing his screams some locals gathered there and rescued him.

The family of Usman shifted him to Shakargarh THQ Hospital in a critical condition.

After the video of brutal torture of the labourer went viral on social media, the Shah Gharib police registered a case against Fayyaz, Owais Ali, Arshad and Pervez Ahmed. DSP Shakargarh Circle Malik Mohammad Khalil said police had taken Owais Ali and Arshad into custody and were conducting raids for the arrest of others.

The victim’s family have demanded that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar take notice of the matter.
