Benazir meets Asif in NY

NEW YORK, Oct 19: Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto arrived here on Tuesday night to meet her husband Asif Zardari who is recuperating after a medical procedure in a city hospital.

Ms Bhutto, according to a PPP source, is staying with her husband at a local hotel.

This is the first time since Mr Zardari’s arrival in New York for treatment of a heart ailment that his wife has visited him.

Although Mr Zardari has been meeting his close friends and has also met journalists, he has avoided talking to journalists on record.

Ms Bhutto is expected to fly to Washington DC to meet PPP workers there. It is not clear whether Mr Zardari will accompany her.
