RAWALPINDI: With the start of work on remodeling of Ammar Shaheed Chowk, the city traffic police have chalked out a traffic diversion plan for the convenience of citizens.

However, the residents of the garrison city, especially those living in Chaklala Scheme III and its adjoining areas are expected to face hardships as the alternative roads are either damaged or unable to bear the traffic load.

However, the city traffic police have released an alternative traffic plan for the convenience of the public during construction work.

The construction work on the remodeling of Ammar Chowk had been started along road sides, the Ammar chowk will be closed for traffic after the construction on the main site was started, the traffic police said.

According to the alternative traffic plan, the traffic coming from Saddar, Katcheri Chowk, and from the adjoining areas intended to take the old Airport road will be diverted to Rashid Minhas Road, Mareer Chowk, Murree Road, Liaquat Bagh, Tipu Road to Fauji Foundation tower. And further from Rawal Road to the old Airport Road.

The same route would be used by the traffic coming from the adjoining areas of the old airport intending to go to the Kacheri Chowk.

Similarly, the traffic from the old airport’s adjoining areas intending to go to Chaklala Scheme III, would be following the Raheemabad Bridge, Dry Port road will take left turn from Makkah Chowk Ghareebabad Road, Chaudhry Walayat Khan Road, Gulistan Colony to reach Chaklala Scheme III.

The traffic police said the same route could be used for the motorists intending to go to the adjoining areas of the old airport.

The traffic intending to go to Saddar and Katcheri Chowk from Chaklala Scheme III and its adjoining areas will use National Park Road, Fauji Foundation Chowk, G.T. Road/Jhelum Road,

Saddar will reach at Katcheri Chowk and use the same route for returning.

The traffic police said the traffic from the adjoining areas of Saddar and Katcheri Chowk intending to go to Islamabad will take the Murree Road, Faizabad to reach the federal capital territory.

The traffic from PWD/DHA, Rawat and its adjoining areas would take express highway to reach Islamabad.

The city traffic police believe that the remodeling of the Ammar Chowk will ease traffic in the city.
