IN less than three years, the government has removed multiple finance ministers from office. I wonder whether there were competency issues, or their policies were not in line with some foreign third-party dictation.
Regardless of the reason, however, such a frequent change of finance ministers is leading to disappointment among the masses. Ultimately, an ordinary person has to bear the brunt of incompetence and failure of the policy-makers.
According to a recent Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) report, inflation in the country rose to 9.1 per cent and the prices of basic commodities doubled in the last few months. It is high time the government fulfilled the promises it made during the election campaign.
