LAKKI MARWAT: Three people were killed and nine others injured in separate incidents here on Monday, the police said.

They said Syed Badshah was shot dead over a petty issue in Sherikhel village, adding a minor boy was also injured in the firing incident.

Tahira Bibi, mother of the deceased, reported to the police that Syed Badshah was taking her to a private clinic for examination when Rashid and his brother, Naseem, intercepted them and opened fire. She said her son died on the spot, while her grandson, Sudais, 5, was wounded in the attack.

The woman said her son and the killers had argued a day ago. The body and the wounded were shifted to a hospital.

Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police registered a case against the killers.

Separately, the police recovered body of a man from a canal near Kotka Alam Khan village of Naurang town.

After receiving information, a party of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station reached the rural area and found the body of a man, 25, dumped in a canal, said an official.

He said the body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Naurang.

The identity of the deceased, who was killed with a firearm, could not be ascertained immediately, maintained the official.

He said the police had registered a case against unknown killer(s).

Also on Monday, a student died and his eight classmates were injured when the motorcycles they were riding collided with each other. Witnesses said the accident occurred near Chowkijand village on Lakki-Darra Tang Road.

They said the villagers shifted the body and the injured to Government City Hospital, wherefrom three students were referred to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu in critical condition.

The deceased and wounded students belong to Jabbarkhel and Abadi Gul Mohammad villages.

PROFITEERS ARRESTED: The administration officials on Monday arrested 19 shopkeepers, including three butchers, for profiteering in Lakki city and other towns of the district.

Assistant commissioner Umer Bin Riaz and additional assistant commissioner Tanzeelur Rehman, during visits to bazaars in Lakki, Seri Gambila, Tajazai and Ghaznikhel, also sealed nine shops over violation of coronavirus SOPs.
