NAIROBI, Oct 19: Kenya’s tea prices were mixed at this week’s auction, with some grades gaining because of improved quality, dealers said on Wednesday.
Mombassa-based Africa Tea Brokers said there was less general demand for the 78,958 packages offered at the auction, compared to 77,167 packages last week.
Improved quality of Brighter Best Pekoe Ones led to its price firming to $2.25-$3.00 per kg compared with $2.22-$2.90 at the last auction, ATB said.
Brighter Best Pekoe Fannings Ones fetched $1.82-$2.01 per kg compared with the last auction’s $1.90-$2.13 because of dipping quality.—Reuters
