LAHORE: Schools on Monday resumed on-campus educational activities for grade 9 to 12 class students with 50 per cent attendance in 13 most coronavirus-affected districts of the province.

The on-campus classes were resumed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Multan, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and DG Khan.

Under the circumstances, the students would have to be present in schools for two days a week.

Meanwhile, classes 1 to 8 will remain closed till Eidul Fitr and universities will continue to operate online in the Covid-hit districts, while they would continue to function as per routine in the districts with “less than eight per cent (Covid) positivity”.

The students were seen wearing masks and gloves.

Meanwhile, Serving Schools Association President Rizaur Rehman has demanded the government introduce education cards on the pattern of health cards for parents who are paying less than 4,000 fees.

Addressing through a video link to the core committee members of the association, he said all schools should be opened where the infectious rate of coronavirus was less than 8pc. He requested the government to open schools for all classes from May 1 because the education sector was facing financial difficulties at present.
