ISLAMABAD: A personal driver of former federal minister Sartaj Aziz has been missing for the last five days.

The Banigala police have registered a kidnapping case on the complaint of the missing man’s brother-in-law Abrar Ahmed. The complainant said Habib Khan, 50, left home on April 12 for work but did not return.

Mr Ahmed told Dawn that he lodged the complaint with the police on April 13 but the police registered the FIR after three days.

He said Habib Khan, a resident of Lakhwal, had been working with the former minister for the last two-and-a-half years. He said a week before he went missing, armed men had snatched cash and a mobile phone from Mr Habib at Chak Shahzad.

Over the robbery, a case was registered with the police. Mr Ahmed said about three days after the robbery Mr Habib had received an anonymous call. The caller threatened him with dire consequences, he added.

Mr Ahmed said on April 13 he visited the residence of Mr Aziz at Chak Shahzad and inquired about Mr Habib. However, Mr Ahmed was told that he had not come to work on April 12.

Meanwhile, a car was stolen from G-6/2 while five motorcycles were picked from Aabpara Market, G-8/1, Tarlai, Ramna and H-9.Four armed men also snatched a vehicle from Malik Naeem at Chungi No 26.

Moreover, thieves stole cash and mobiles worth Rs110,000 from a house in Bhara Kahu. Electronic equipment worth Rs300,000 were also stolen from a house in Kirpa.
