LAKKI MARWAT: Provincial minister for social welfare Hisham Inamullah Khan has asked the authorities concerned to expedite work on road projects in the district and ensure their early completion.

Speaking at a meeting here at the district headquarters complex, Tajazai, on Thursday, he said that construction work on Ghaznikhel-Tajori and Malang Adda-Sulemankhel road projects was in progress while Shahbazkhel-Lakki city and Indus Highway-Qaboolkhel road schemes were in the pipeline for approval.

“The road projects will bring development to the rural areas besides ensuring provision of better communication facilities to the rural population,” he said.

Deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb, DPO Imran Khan and officials of line departments were present on the occasion.

The minister said that over Rs1.5 billion would be spent on construction of road to Shaikh Badin tourist resort from Darra Pezu town of the district.

He said the government was determined to provide basic amenities of life to people on their doorstep.

Mr Inamullah said he would make efforts to enhance the capacity of district headquarters hospital to 500 beds and get a project approved for setting up a medical college in Lakki Marwat district.

WATER FILTRATION PLANT: A filtration plant set up by the Frontier Corps (South) was inaugurated in Sheikhanwala locality of Tank district on Thursday to provide drinking water to the residents.

DPO Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada along with army officials inaugurated the water plant. Area elders and members of civil society present on the occasion thanked IG FC South Maj-Gen Omar Bashir for installation of the water filtration plant.

They said that the FC South had set up over 10 such filtration plants in parts of the district so far.
