ISLAMABAD: Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will highlight fundamental rights as per Islam and the Constitution, at an event organised by Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA).

IHCBA formally sent a request to Justice Isa to attend the event, scheduled to be held on April 10 at the Quaid-i-Azam Hall of IHCBA.

It can be mentioned here that Justice Isa is visiting the IHCBA at a time when majority members of the elected body including its president Zahid Mehmood Raja are facing a case for storming the Chief Justice Block of the IHC; on Feb 8, 2021 a handful of lawyers attacked the block and detained judges for a couple of hours.

They were protesting against demolition of the chambers, illegally built on a football ground.

Raja along with IHCBA Secretary Tassaduq Hanif, member of Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) Naseer Kayani and others have been nominated in the first information report (FIR) registered against various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). Raja has been granted bail in this case, while Hanif and Kayani are still behind bars.

A three-member IHC bench had suspended their practicing licences and forwarded their cases to the bar council for disciplinary proceeding.
