LAHORE: Eight people were injured with one of them critical after a gas cylinder exploded at Bhati Gate here on Saturday.

The incident occurred at a tea shop in Parinda Market while some people were having tea.

A police official said the owner of the tea shop could not notice gas leaking from a pipe attached to the cylinder he was using. Suddenly, the cylinder caught fire that caused a powerful blast.

Resultantly, five customers, two workers and the shop owner suffered multiple burn injuries.

Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site on being alerted and shifted the injured to a hospital, the official said, adding that the condition of one of them was serious.
