LARKANA: Ten persons died while more than 30 suffered multiple injuries in a head-on collision between a bus and a tractor on Mashori bypass at Dahot Chowk here on Thursday night. The injured were shifted to the accident and emergency unit of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

SSP Larkana Masood Bangash confirmed to reporters that the number of persons who died was 10. The victims were identified as Ghulam Nabi, Kamran, Ajwa, Abdul Khaliq, Ayaz Kumbhar, Rahim Bakhsh Kumbhar, Taniya Khatoon, Shazia Khatoon, Fahad Ali and Karim Bakhsh. Hospital sources, however, said that the number of persons who perished in the accident was nine.

Larkana Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor told reporters that the number of injured was 40. Of them the condition of 20 was critical, he said.

The bus driver apparently lost control of the vehicle after the tyre rod of the bus carrying a wedding party to Lalurounk broke. It hit a tractor and overturned resulting in on the spot deaths of 10 persons. Police officials immediately reached the scene and supervised the rescue work. The bus was completely damaged, rescue sources said.
