Nazim’s oath stalled

KOHAT, Oct 16: Election Tribunal Judge Mah Talat has stopped Lachi union council nazim, Fawad Khan, from taking oath of his office after the preliminary hearing of a writ petition filed by the runner-up candidate here.

The candidate, Khanzada Mohammad Alam Khan, had challenged the result of the local government election held on Aug 18 and requested the judge to stop the UC nazim from taking oath till a final decision was made on the petition. After issuing a stay order, the court set Oct 27 as the date for hearing of the case.

All other nazims, naib nazims and councillors of Kohat will be administered oath on Monday in the district council hall by the returning officer Syed Yahya Gilani, who is also the district and sessions judge.—Correspondent
