A spokesperson of Rescue 1122 said a rescue team retrieved two children identified as Sajid, 8, and his sister Sadida, 3, from the rubble and rushed them to a hospital where they were declared dead.

In a separate development, the Swat administration imposed an extended lockdown in different areas after increase in coronavirus cases.

According to an order issued by the deputy commissioner, the restrictions were imposed in the areas where active cases were on rise.

It said 358 cases were reported from different areas, including Amankot, Faizabad, Banr, Gulkada, Landykas, Odigram, Saidu Sharif, Shahdara Watkey, Barikot, Bar Abakhel, Hazara, Kalakaley, Kanju, Kuzabakhel, Totano Bandai, Khwazakhela and Matta Kharerrai.

Keeping in view the people’s failure to fully abide by the SOPs and a spike in Covid-19 cases, the district magistrate Swat has imposed an extended lockdown in the areas to contain the virus spread, the order stated.
