LAHORE: A woman was shot dead while two others were injured by a man allegedly over a marriage issue in Iqbal Town on Sunday.

Police said Shazia, 40 and her two sisters Anmol (25) and Sajida (23) were sitting in their house in Zeenat Block of Iqbal Town when their neighbour, Adnan alias Waris, who was a shopkeeper, came there to demand money.

Police said Adnan and the women had an exchange of harsh words and he pulled out a gun and opened fire on the three sisters, leaving them injured.

The injured were shifted to hospital where Shazia died while the condition of the two others were said to be stable.

The investigating officer said the initial probe revealed that the suspect was in a relationship with one of the sisters and wanted to marry her.

He said the suspect had taken the extreme step of killing the elder sister who was refusing to tie the knot of her younger sister with him.

Police registered the murder case against the suspect.

Iqbal Town SP Owais Shafiq said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect.
