KARACHI, Oct 16: The elected institutions of the local government would become functional on Monday when the candidates declared elected as nazims and councillors of city district, district, town, taluka and union councils will be administered oath in a simple ceremonies to be held in their respective headquarters.

In Karachi, a ceremony will be held at Baradari, Bagh-i-Jinnah, at 3.30pm where City Nazim-elect Syed Mustafa Kamal will take oath of his office. The District & Sessions Judge, South, Agha Rafique Ahmad will administer the oath.

Besides the city nazim, 77 candidates declared elected as members of the council against reserved seats through indirect elections in the third phase would also take oath.

Nazims-elect of all 18 towns of the city district would be administered oath at another ceremony to be held at 11am on Monday at the Sadiquain Hall, in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Designated judicial officials would administer the oath.
