WANA, Oct 15: Security forces on Saturday killed six suspected militants and arrested two others in the Laddha sub-division of the South Waziristan Agency. Officials said that all the dead and one of the arrested persons were foreigners and belonged to a Central Asian state.

The incident took place at Laddha checkpost before Iftar when troops stopped a vehicle for routine checking. The vehicle was coming from the North Waziristan Agency.

An official said that the personnel at the checkpost asked passengers to establish their identity one-by-one. He said that one passenger was cleared, while another was suspected to be a foreign militant upon which the security personnel insisted for his body search.

“When the soldiers recovered hand grenades from the man, his comrades started indiscriminate firing on the security forces to rescue their fellow.”

The official said that the troops manning a nearby checkpost in the area attacked the suspects. Six of them were killed on the spot and the military official claimed that all of them were foreigners. While one of the two arrested persons was also a foreigner, military sources said.

The security forces took the bodies into custody and also seized arms and ammunition from them.

A source said that all the dead belonged to Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and four others were injured in a bomb blast in a vehicle in Angor Adda area of the South Waziristan Agency on Friday, sources said.
