RAWALPINDI: The Hotels and Restaurants Association on Saturday expressed concern over what they termed discriminatory policy to close down outlets under the Covid-19 SOPs.

In a statement, the association General Secretary of Chaudhry Mohammad Farooq said that the government had forcibly closed Rawalpindi based restaurants for an indefinite period.

He said this was done while ignoring the protests and problems of people associated with this industry.

He further said that the Islamabad administration on the other hand allowed eateries to serve indoor and outdoor food to customers till 10pm during weekdays.

The Islamabad’s restaurants will only be closed for weekend only.

He said the twin-cities shared similar threats of Covid-19 and this was beyond comprehensions as to why the government had opted for discriminatory policies for neighbouring cities.

He warned of holding sit-in before parliament if the restaurants were not allowed to perform their lawful business.
