ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has given affiliation to the first ever online school to offer online education up to the higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) level.

“We have given provisional affiliation to first online school subject to fulfillment of affiliation criteria,” said FBISE Chairman Qaiser Alam. He said due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most of schools were already offering online education.

“Future Learn School applied for affiliation to become full-fledge online school and we granted it affiliation in principle and asked the management to fulfill criteria,” he said and added that recently the board of governor (BoG) of FBISE approved criteria for giving affiliation to online schools.

Earlier, there was no provision in our rules to give affiliation to online schools, so “We placed criteria before the BoG, which in principle approved our criteria and directed for some additional steps as well,” he said.Asked about quality of education, he said the exams to be conducted by the FBISE will determine the quality of the school.
