ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: The top two finishers in each category of next month’s Quaid-i-Azam Senior National ranking weightlifting championship in Islamabad will have to undergo camp training for the Commonwealth and South Asian Games.

Muzaffar A. Qureshi, secretary of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) said on Friday that there would be competitions in eight body weight categories during the Nov 29-30 championship at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

The PWF official made it clear that weightlifters not interested in attending the training camp which is already in progress, should rather stay away from the championship.

Weightlifters from Balochistan, Islamabad, NWFP, Punjab, Sindh, Army, Wapda, HEC and Police are likely to take part in what will be the 28th edition of the championship.

The body weight categories are 56 kgs, 62, 69, 77, 85, 94, 105 and plus 105.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Weightlifting Association is to organise the 2nd Commemorative Inter-provincial championship at Deebalpur on Nov 15 and 16.

Competitions will be held in the body weight categories of 56 kgs, 62, 69, 77, 85, 94, 105 and plus 105 kgs.

The championship will see weightlifters from Balochistan, Islamabad, NWFP, Sindh and Punjab (A & B) competing for honours.
