NAWABSHAH, Oct 14: Special prayers were offered on Friday in mosques of the Nawabshah district for the earthquake victims in NWFP, Kashmir and Punjab. Meanwhile, citizens continued to donate cash and other essential commodities in the relief camps.

District Coordination Officer Dr Baqaullah Unnar said that collected donations of Rs1.5 million would be sent to Khairpur by trucks and from there they would be transported to the affected areas.

He said that C-130 aeroplane which was expected to arrive in Nawabshah was cancelled due to huge collections of goods in Karachi.

WATER SHORTAGE: Thousands of people of Nawabshah were facing hardships in Ramazan due to shortage of water.

The citizens who got water from the Rohri canal were facing problems for the last three days due to some fault in the supply line.

Taluka Municipal Officer Atta Mohammad Channa assured that the water supply would be restored by Friday afternoon.

DISCONNECTION: The 16 emergency number of the Nawabshah fire brigade station which covers Sanghar and Naushahro Feroze districts was out of order for the last one week on non-payment of bill. OATH: The Nawabshah district and sessions judge will administer oath to the newly elected district nazim of Nawabshah, Faryal Talpur, on Monday.

Likewise, Senior Civil Judge Mohammad Manazirul Haq would administer oath at the Daulatpur taluka council hall on Monday to Iftikhar Unnar, the taluka nazim of Daulatpur, and members of taluka council elected on reserved seats for women, peasant or labour and minorities.

KHAIRPUR: Fateha Khawani was offered in mosques and Imambargahs in the Khairpur district on Friday for the victims of earthquake.

Ulemas prayed for recovery of the injured and the departed souls.

INJURED: Three people were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Yar Mohammad Kaladi village, UC Jiskani, Kot Diji taluka, on land dispute on Tuesday.
