Deliver or quit, chief minister tells South Punjab secretaries

LAHORE: Expressing his indignation over performance of the South Punjab Secretariat, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has directed the secretaries of its different departments to resolve problems of the people of the region and expedite execution of projects there.

On Mr Buzdar’s special instructions, a meeting of secretaries concerned was held at the Chief Minister’s Office where the principal secretary conveyed them to take effective measures for resolving peoples’ problems.

The secretaries were told their departments would have to perform now and that any inefficiency on their part won’t be tolerated at all. They were also warned of strict action for showing any negligence in this regard.

He directed the secretaries to complete the projects of public welfare within the stipulated time frame.

He said those failing to deliver as per the expectations of the people, had no right to hold any public office.

He said third-party monitoring of all public welfare schemes would be conducted.

The officers were told that the funds released for the development schemes should be utilised timely and they should go out in the field to ensure transparency in development projects.

Secretaries of (south Punjab) health, finance, planning and development, local government and community development, housing, urban development and public health engineering, agriculture, livestock & dairy development, S&GAD, law, communications and works, irrigation, education, forest and additional secretary home attended the meeting.
