NAWABSHAH, Oct 13: Many schools were vacated as rumours of earthquake spread panic in the Nawabshah city on Wednesday. Schools that were evacuated were the Apwa Girls High Schools, Ghariabad Government Primary School and Gulshan Public school.
The district administration has appealed to citizens to remain peaceful and should not respond to any rumours. Shamsuddin of the Met office said that there were no reports of any earthquake in Nawabshah.
Meanwhile, hundreds of residents of the Bandhi and Buchheri towns came out of their houses on Thursday at 2am due to earthquake fear and remained out till break of the dawn.
Police officials from the Bandhi police station said that people returned to their houses after assurances by the SHO and other policemen. Earlier, announcements of the earthquake were also made from mosques in the Bandhi town.
TMO BOOKED: Four-year-old Amanat Ali, son of Mohammad Akbar Rajput, died on Wednesday as he fell into an opened gutter in Golimar.
Mohammad Akbar Rajput, a labourer, blamed that the taluka municipal administration was responsible for his son’s death.
Meanwhile, the Nawabshah police booked TMO and the chief municipal officer after the incident.
Earlier, the residents of Golimar, led by the deceased’s father, blocked the Nawabshah-Buchheri road by burning tyres and held a protest demonstration against the municipal administration.
ACTION URGED: The local civil court has taken a serious notice of the absence of Ghulam Mujtaba, an assistant executive engineer of the Shahpur Chakar sub-division, Nusrat irrigation division, Nawabshah, for not appearing before the court and directed the irrigation department to take action against him.
Plaintiff Tahir Hussain said in his petition that the irrigation authorities excavated the Jam Saheb distributary (Jam Wah) at the behest of some influential landlords and disturbed the bed level without any legal cause.
The senior civil judge Nawabshah, Mohammad Manazirul Haq, gave the date of October 27, 2005, for final arguments.
