GUJRANWALA, Oct 13: Traffic on the Sialkot Road was thrown out of gear in protest against the killing of a retired armyman after subjecting him to torture by the Civil Lines police on Thursday night.

Report said a police team headed by SHO Ghulam Asghar raided the house of Mushtaq Ahmad alias Lahori in Fattomand, arrested him and started beating him severely. In the meantime, Mushtaq’s father Malik Kaba Khan alias Fauji also reached there and tried to save his son. But the police also captured him and tortured him with butts of gun. He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

Later, a large number of people gathered there and protested against the highhandedness of police. They also blocked the traffic and chanted slogans against police.

DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq reached the spot and brought the situation under control. He suspended the SHO and four constables and ordered registration of a case.
