PESHAWAR: The Bank of Khyber (BOK) has launched the PayPlus current salary account for the employees of the provincial government.

A statement issued here said that the account was first of its type salary account for the employees of the provincial government. It said KP Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz was briefed about the account’s features and he liked it so much that he asked the bank management to open his PayPlus account right there and then.

Dr Niaz said that PayPlus account features had the power to attract every government employee.

A bank official told Dawn that the employees having this account would be able to take advance salary amounting to 50 per cent of their basic pay during a month, which would be deducted from their salary the next month without markup.

The official said that the bank would insure such account and the account holders’ families would continue to get salaries for three months in case of their death, while in case of account holder insuring his account with a premium, the families would be able to receive salaries for up to a year or more.

The official said the account holder would also be helped in filing their tax returns and to this effect the bank had entered into an agreement with a Karachi-based company.

He said the account holders would have to pay a nominal sum of Rs800 to Rs1,000 for filing their tax returns.
