TAXILA: The Attock police on Wednesday claimed that the alleged rapist and killer of a nine-year-old girl was killed during an encounter with police near Ghazi interchange.

According to a handout issued by district police, the suspect took the girl to an under-construction house in Punjdher in Nartoppa village in limits of Hazro police station on Sunday where he sexually assaulted and strangled her to death and then escaped.

The body was later traced by her family and shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where the rape was confirmed.

According to the handout, the police with the help of evidence collected from the crime scene traced the culprit.

When they raided his hideout he and his accomplices opened fire on the police team.

However, according to police, the suspect received bullet injury from firing of his own companions and died on the spot. Later, his body was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hazro for autopsy.

Sub divisional Police officer Hazro circle Zaghaim Abbass when contacted confirmed that the culprit behind the rape was killed during exchange of fire between the suspect and his accomplices and the police party.
