GUJRAT: Three robbers and a commando of Elite Force were killed in an encounter near Kolian Shah Hussain area in Dinga police precincts on Saturday.

Gujrat District Police Officer Umar Salamat, who reached the spot, said he on a tip-off had constituted a joint team of Kharian Saddar and Dinga police along with the Elite Force that had raided a hideout of criminals.

He said as soon as the police party reached there the robbers opened fire. During a shootout, Elite Force personnel Zulfiqar Haider and three robbers were killed.

He said one of the robbers had been identified as Tipu Shah who was a notorious outlaw wanted in at least 18 cases.

It was learnt that the gangsters were mainly wanted to Kharian Saddar police in a recent incident of a murder during a house robbery at Bashna village.
