FAISALABAD: Police registered a case against two unidentified persons, one in police uniform, on charges of snatching Rs160,000 cash and valuables from a trader of Multan.

The action was taken by police on the complaint of a trader of Multan, Samiullah, only after a video clip of the cash snatching incident went viral on social media on Feb 24.

Submitting the application, the hardware ware trader said that he came to Faisalabad from Multan to buy merchandise. He said as soon as her hired a rickshaw to visit the market, two men on a motorcycle approached him.

One of them, wearing police uniform carrying name plate of Yasir, at gunpoint asked him to accompany them.

The complainant said the suspects took him first to a cobbler’s shop and then to a motorcycle showroom where they started beating him for no apparent reason.

He said the suspects snatched Rs160,000 and his wrist watch worth Rs15,000 and threatened him that he would be implicated in a narcotics case if he reported the incident. The suspects then went away, he added.

On the complaint of Samiullah, a case under section 392 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) has been registered against the two suspects with no arrest so far.
