Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema supervised the and opened the process by holding balloting of a Category-I plot.

“We want all ongoing projects to be completed on time so that the federal employees can fulfil their dream of owning a house,” he said.

Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme scheduled to be completed by December this year

The Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme Green Enclave I was launched in 2009 but it was delayed for many years due to investigation and litigation.

Briefing the minister, FGEHA Director General Waseem Hayat Bajwa said work on the scheme had been in full swing for the last two years.

According to the authority, 40pc progress has been made on the project while work on the road leading to it, including the 140-metre bridge over Korang River, is 70pc complete. The project is expected to be completed in December 2021.

The ceremony was also attended by Secretary Housing and Works Dr Imran Zaib Khan, senior officers of the ministry and the allottees.

The DG told the minister that special attention was being paid to gardening activities to create a more conducive environment. Sui gas, electricity and water supply is being worked on to ensure that all facilities are available to the allottees.

Director Planning Mian Rizwan said the progress of existing work could be reviewed online.

When contacted, Project Director Daud Salam said the project was underway in full swing and if all goes as planned it would be completed by the end of this year.

The FGEHA, a couple of years ago, also launched extension of this housing scheme (Sky Garden) through a joint venture.

The authority is supposed to provide affordable housing units to government employees. During the last few years, it has launched several projects.
