PESHAWAR, Oct 12: A Disaster Management Cell, headed by the Provincial Minister for Health Inayatullah Khan has been established to regulate relief activities in health sector in the earthquake-hit areas of the province.

The cell, apart from Executive District Health Officers of the affected districts and Chief Executive and Medical Superintendent of Ayub Teaching Hospital, MS DHQ Hospital Mansehra would be comprised of the representatives of international donor agencies and NGOs.

Similarly following the directives of the provincial minister for health, a cell has also been established to coordinate relief activities. Dr Mohammad Zafar will be overall in charge of the cell while Dr Zafeer Hussain will supervise relief activities in Abbottabad.

Moreover, the health minister has also ordered constitution of a medicine cell at the directorate-general of health services of Peshawar.

Dr Sajid Shaheen, Director of Administration, Health Directorate will be in charge of the cell.

The cell will be responsible for maintaining supply of medicines to the affected areas.

Similarly health department has started shifting of 400 seriously injured victims for specialised treatment to Peshawar.
