KARACHI, Oct 12: Flow of donations from multinational companies, institutions, banks, associations and other organizations for relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims continued on Wednesday.
Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Group, has announced a donation of Rs220 million towards the earthquake relief fund.
KSE: The Karachi Stock Exchange and its members have raised more than Rs100 million to contribute towards the relief and rehabilitation fund for the victims of earthquake. In addition to this, the KSE employees have also contributed one-day salary towards this cause.
SHELL: Shell Pakistan contributed funds and goods worth Rs30 million for immediate relief efforts for the affected people of the earthquake.
HWL: The Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa (HWL) and the Li Ka Shing Foundation would donate US$500,000 towards the relief of victims and rebuilding of the houses and infrastructure. Two-third of the amount was pledged by the HWL.
Chairman of HWL Mr Li Ka-shing expressed hope that the help would ease some pain and sufferings and also expected the people of Hong Kong to contribute in whatever way they could to help the victims.
PPMA: The Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association announced a donation of Rs20 million to help the affected people.
INDUS MOTOR: Indus Motor rolled out plans to directly participate in a Rs20 million relief operation to support the victims of the earthquake.
In addition to a donation to the President’s Earthquake Relief Fund, Indus Motor Company was setting up base camps in Muzaffarabad and Mansehra for providing medical assistance and distribution of relief goods.
KATI: The patron-in-chief of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, S.M. Muneer, along with KATI member Ms Farah gave Rs12.5 million for earthquake victims.
PAK SUZUKI: Pak Suzuki Motors announced a donation of Rs10 million ($168,000) for the victims of the calamity.
MULTINET: Multinet Pakistan Limited, a subsidiary of Telecom Malaysia, has set up a special fund with an amount of $100,000 to help the victims of the earthquake.
PAK-OMAN INVESTMENT: Pak-Oman Investment Company Ltd has donated Rs10 million to the relief fund , in addition to its employees’ voluntary contribution of three day salary.
ALFALAH: The senior management of Bank Alfalah Limited has donated three days of their gross salaries, middle management donated 2 days salaries and rest donated one day salaries amounting to Rs6.8 million.
PST: The Pakistan Sports Trust has contributed relief goods worth Rs2.5 million for the earthquake victims. It had already delivered about 30 per cent of these goods to the army relief camp at Race Course Ground, Rawalpindi for onward delivery to the Azad Kashmir and the NWFP areas.
LANDHI TOWN: The caretaker Landhi Town administration decided to donate Rs2.5 million for quake-affected people of Azad Kashmir, the NWFP and Punjab.
CHINESE CONSULATE: The Chinese consulate here and the Chinese companies located in the city have expressed shock and grief over the devastating earthquake and offered Rs1.7 million by all their staff members.
According to a press release of the consulate of the People’s Republic of China, all the donations had been sent to the President’s Relief Fund.
SENATOR: Senator Ahmed Ali of the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement has donated Rs1.4 million in the relief fund for Saturday’s earthquake victims. This, he said, was in addition to the relief supplies his party had sent for the victims
EPZA: The employees of Export Processing Zones Authority would also contribute their two-day salary in the fund.
SMI: Employees of the Sindh Madressatul Islam will donate their two-day salary in the President’s Relief fund for the earth quake victims of Pakistan.
IoBM: Students, faculty and management of the Institute of Business Management have collected huge quantities of tents, sleeping bags, clothing, medicines and food items and purchased from funds raised by students, faculty and management and sent to the PAF Museum for their onward transportation to the affected areas.
