KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by armed men upon resistance in Sharifabad on Sunday.

Zahir Osama, 21, was shot at near Ghareebabad near Usman Memorial Hospital. He was shifted to the Aga Khan University Hospital where he died during treatment.

Area SHO Kamran Haider said that Osama stopped his car for some repair work and was using with his mobile phone when armed pillion riders appeared there and demanded his phone. Apparently Osama offered some resistance and the muggers shot him in the chest and rode away, he added.

He said the police were probing other motive of the killing, but it appeared to be a robbery-cum-murder case.

He said the police got some clues about other possible motive but it could not share such information with the media at this stage.
