KARACHI: Sindh Local Bodies Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Saturday met central naib emir of Jamaat-i-Islami Asadullah Bhutto, Karachi emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and others to seek the party’s support in Sindh for the Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate for the Senate.

The Senate elections will be held on March 3.

During the meeting held at Idara Noor-i-Haq, the ministers also discussed issues relating to the masses in Sindh, particularly Karachi, including holding of local bodies’ elections.

The JI leaders told the PPP ministers that a decision about the Senate elections would be taken after consultations with the party’s central leadership in Lahore.

Moreover, the JI leaders asked the ministers to take concerted and immediate measures to resolve core civic issues and provide relief to the masses.

The PPP leaders also contacted JI’s senior leader Liaquat Baloch and sought his support for a key PPP candidate for Senate polls, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
