LAKKI MARWAT: A teenage girl and young man were killed for honour in Kokalkhel Surani area of Bannu the other day, police said.

They said that a party of Basyakhel police station headed by ASI Hidayatullah was informed that two bodies were lying in the house of one Burda Ali.

The police said that they reached the place and found the bodies of a young man, 25, and a girl, 18, who had been killed with a firearm. They said the bodies were taken to a local hospital for postmortem.

The police said that during initial investigation they came to know that Ghani Rehman, Mujeeb, Anwar, Shah Tamas and Marwan had allegedly killed the girl and her paramour for honour. They said that they had registered a case against the alleged killers.

ARRESTED: Scores of outlaws were arrested during operations in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts, police claimed on Friday.

The police launched an operation against criminals in parts of Lakki Marwat and claimed to have eliminated narcotics dens and hideouts of criminal gangs in rural localities.

They said they arrested a proclaimed offender, two drug peddlers, nine anti-social elements and 18 suspects during the raids.

They also seized an AK-47 rifle, eight pistols, a shotgun and over one kilogramme hashish from the arrested men and registered cases against them.

In Bannu, the police arrested 397 alleged drug sellers and seized narcotics and contraband from them during a fortnight campaign. An official said the cops recovered 305kg hashish, 43kg heroin and eight kilogrammes of ice drug.

He said the district police had also launched an SMS service for the citizens to lodge complaints concerning sale of narcotics in their localities.
