RAWALPINDI: With its mission to significantly enhance the outreach for meeting both domestic and international vaccination targets, District Health Authority Rawalpindi and Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for mutual cooperation.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Faiza Kanwal and AKUH Chief Executive Officer Shagufta Hassan signed the MoU at a ceremony. Ms Hassan on the occasion spoke about guiding principles of AKUH: quality, relevance, impact and access and said, “Every programme we implement is based on these core principles and because immunisation programme fits all, it is of high importance to us.”

Dr Kanwal appreciated the MoU and said it was sequel to the MoU signed by the Punjab Health Department and now we are in execution phase of it at the district level. She said it will strengthen our vision to enhance public-private partnership.AKU Assistant Manager Bilal Azfar Abbasi said through its network of hospitals, integrated medical centres, clinical laboratories and outreach pharmacies the AKUH was present in over 125 cities across Pakistan, delivering world class quality healthcare to all.

“AKUH clinical laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists for fast and accurate testing. Its main hospital in Karachi is accredited by the Joint Commission International for quality and patient safety,” he said.
