ISLAMABAD, Oct 11: Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has sent her heartfelt condolences to all the victims of the recent earthquake in the country. In a statement on Tuesday, she called upon the people to generously contribute to the relief efforts currently underway.

She said she was disturbed to hear reports that people in northern parts of the country, severely affected by the national tragedy, had not yet received due attention.

Ms Bhutto expressed her dissatisfaction over the government’s relief efforts, especially in northern areas where, according to reports, scores of people were still buried under the rubble.

She said alongside rescue efforts centred around the upmarket F-10 residential tower in Islamabad, the poorer areas in the north should not have been largely abandoned.
