The amount was allegedly stolen from the locked cash boxes of the PSPP at the Sammasatta railway station on the night of Feb 10. The goods train 501-Up was carrying several cash boxes containing SBP consignment of millions of rupees and prize bonds from Karachi to Faisalabad under strict security measures by police personnel but thieves managed to unseal the wagon and unlock the two boxes at the Sammasatta railway yard.

He said on the night of occurrence when the goods train was standing at the Sammasatta railway yard, an unidentified motorcyclist at 4am had appeared from the control room and he suspected that man. He said police officials Siddique and Allah Rakha of Sammsatta police were supposed to protect the money.

SHO Malik Fayyaz said that on the basis of FIR, the investigation would be initiated and the officials responsible for the theft would be proceeded against.
